The Conductor.
Mike grew up playing the sax and dabbled in piano and percussion over the years. He entered the guitar world later in life after serving as a Marine Officer, business owner, consultant, and investor. He created Tree Bone Guitars to fill a niche he wished existed as he searched for his own guitars for playing and investment. Mike is primarily an acoustic player, but enjoys a bit of distortion from time to time. As a hobby woodworker, Mike has an appreciation for well-crafted instruments and understands the process, intricacies, and effort involved in creating great guitars.
The Tech.
Ben is an avid electric player and prefers the challenge of speed and accuracy while playing complex arrangements. He has trained with one of the most well-regarded luthiers in the industry with a focus on expertly setting up instruments to facilitate players experiencing the best each guitar has to offer. Ben processes every guitar we bring in, examining each one in detail for condition and repairs. He records and addresses any findings and completes a full setup from tuners to bridge, so we can deliver guitars that are ready to go with a transparent record of any work completed to get them there.
We have relationships with experts who specialize in specific instruments, brands, regions, and repairs ("Boffins") as well as people who act as our boots on the ground to assist with locating and procuring guitars for our clients ("Buyers" and "Bird Dogs"). They are an important part of making our service a reality and help us meet the needs and wants of our clients, particularly for rare and hard-to-find instruments.
